Re: New site coming…

The "search" function is not helpful when searching the titel of a thread.
When e.g. searching for the titel " Why I dont like fishing the MED" - that incorperates about 90% of the real titel, I only get hits with all the fractions of the search, the titel is not found at all.

Re: does balancing a rod have and effect on casting?

If you meen me: I have done my tests with different reel weights only while casting and fishing - no static tests - and found the results, that fits me.

Re: glass vs graphite

Hi Phil, I think a glass rod with an 8 label will often bend more than a CF rod with an 8 label, but some of that is the expectation of the buyers being met by the makers. For some reason, many of the commercial rod makers like to make very bendy ‘glass rods because we want the “traditional ‘glass ...

Re: does balancing a rod have and effect on casting?

I´m a fan of lightweight reels, may be not the lightest possible but lighter than many fly fisher do. ( I never understand why are fly fisher using a 200 gramm casstte reel on a 9´#5 rod. ) I have tested different reel weights on #5, #7 and #10 rods. I cast even without the reel on the rod. In the h...

Re: Line organisation/labelling,identity

So far, the weights given by the companies were more or less correct. DTs are usely very correct, but I have a DT 6 and a DT 7 of the old SA Standart ( light green) that have nearly the same weight. The #7 is a bit under the correct number and the #6 is at least a # 6,5. But you can find differences...

Re: Line organisation/labelling,identity

I do own a lot of lines, on reels, spare spools and on plastic spools. I´m also interessted in knowing, what line I do have in real. ( You know, there are for example "WF 7s" and "WF 7s" , that are veeery different lines) So I messeared and weighted most of my lines. I take the w...

Re: Casting problems with sinking WF

How long is the Sink 8 Part? The problem might be the 2 very different densities of the head - intermediat versus sink 8. I have 2 older lines that have a short head of about 8m. The back of the belly is floating and the front 4,5m are different fast sink tips. As the sinking part have a much smalle...

Re: Barramundi

Might not help, but when I fished for them in a pond in Australia, I caught more with my popper flys than all the other spin fisher together.

Re: Updated info

I can suggest some edits: If you were to put an 8 weight line on a 4 weight rod you would probably break the rod to - If you were to put an 8 weight line on a 4 weight rod you would probably have the making of a super film clip (wear mustard trousers) :D Why do you think so? My old 3M SA #8 "S...

Re: The stop revisited.

Spin fisher don´t talk that much about improving their casting because they reach their target easier? Or just take a heavier plug? When spin fisher want to max. their casting distance, than they more often talk about the better rod or line and not that much about improving their casting. A friend, ...
