Re: Hi-viz hare

That's a very similar fly to one known in Australia as the BMS ("Bullen Merri Special). One of my go-to flies for one of our estuarine species (black bream) and for carp. https://aussieangler.com.au/wp-content/uploads/csm/Muz_s_Estuary_BMS_Olive_web_58b2e9a1-3cfc-4211-aec2-53236604eb73.jpeg Cheers,...

Thanks tz... apart from a couple of streamers I only really fish my own, but may come back to you if my eye sight gets any worse  Same here ... I can't be bothered tying streamers or fish flies from others :-) The fly with only Snowshoe fibres in claret works amazingly well. I had a 5,3 po...

looking for Vosseler vices

I have the Vosseler vice. It is so modular that I even can only take the head and the suction base along and can tie. The head even fits in my fly fishing bum bag. Brilliant and it did cost a fraction of most other toys ... erm tools. I however seem to be one of the very very few liking the Vosseler...

the tale of two hats - Tracy and James FP

https://www.sexyloops.com/index.php/ps/a-tale-of-two-hats I know exactly what you are talking about ;-) Have you tried wearing the prom backwards? The trout think you are leaving. That's a nice trick too. I think the old double brim tweed hats might have worked in that regard and explains why they a...

Re: Knapek Hooks

Hi,

I have tried them some years ago and found that the wire at the hook eye was very sharp and so caused the tying thread to break. This might have been a bad batch though, but I didn’t see a good reason to try again after this rather frustrating experience.

Cheers,
Thomas

Re: Hi-viz hare

Nice colour... I could have done with those last night, fishing at dusk I completely lost my fly and was very late lifting into the best trout of the evening Exactly that’s the problem which I try to solve. I could have used some sort of synthetic fiber, but hare floats very well and it it reflects...
