For ICSF ev2 I first started like a caster possessed starting off at 100mph and soon ran out of steam with poor distances. The change has helped and still allowed me to get the results that I’m after.
The lighter weights 5&7 are less stressful on the body.

Re: Casting direction
Hi Paul, I tend to pick an object to make the back cast to (tree or similar) as the basis for any good cast is the back cast. I believe (my theory) is that Adrenalin kicks in, which in turns adds the ‘throwing’ motion which kicks the forward cast to the left a bit, not by much but it’s enough to mak...

Re: Casting direction
When I'm not trying, my casts will go exactly where I want them - straight down the middle. When the pressure is on and my traking goes circular the line will tend to land to the right ny 2-3m, after spotting this and relaxing, going through a breathing cycle to regain composure the cast will go bac...

Re: What do you think?
John, it then questions the current core of the Olympics ? Javelin, shotput, discus etc, there are no relevant ‘past times’ to which these are related to currently. Today’s youth are too interested in siting on their bums and playing Fortnite for 20hrs a day and wanting everything on a plate handed ...

The 2006 Emerald World Masters had Hywel Morgan on the microphone for 7 days and He did a great job commentating on the 14 events, eliminators and finals.

Re: What do you think?
Casting (fly, Castingsport or Surf) have no place in the olympics, it’s not dynamic enough with minimal spectator appeal - unless you are part of it. The main ICSF competing countries are all well setup for 8 lanes of casting, 8 Distos on tripods and sight boards for accurate measuring, Different co...

Re: T38 lines
From my own experience the variation in the lines is massive, even checking them from the same batch purchased there where a number of inconsistencies, considering the cost of the lines. Sine looked like they where made from bamboo. I’ve ended up using 3 lines to create 1 useable line. Im no fly lin...

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
The reality is that - Some countries will limit travel and places to travel to/from. Flights will be dearer (Airlines wanting to regain lost profits). Hotels will be dearer (same reason as Airlines). People will have additional expenses due to additional loans to get them through. Life will become m...

Re: Essential Level Challenge Competition
Not wanting to be labelled a spoilsport.... The Covid-19 virus is on the spread in many places around the world, with many countries taking extreme measures and strict quarantine being applied. Do you think this might hamper any sporting gatherings (e.g. World Championships etc.) ? Recently, I exper...

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
James, What / who was the drive to be included ? The inclusion only happened relatively recent (2-4 years). Is there a board or elected representatives (flycasting) who meet with the ICSF executive board or is it just a single board with joint interest ? Pulling out might be a long (&difficult) proc...
