Cheers Mike I can only go by my own personal experience after asking on numerous occaissions - 2015 - Hluboka and Vltavou, Czech Republic, 2014 - Szamotuly, Poland, 2013 - Hal...

Platform, or No Platform

Paul , I've tried both leaving the line on the platform and on the ground in front of the platform. Both have their advantages and disadvantages - snagging of the running line is a major obstacle - its easy to stand on it on the platform and unless the ground directly infant of the platform is nice ...

Platform, or No Platform

For a platform to be stable and capable of being used by casters is needs to be substantial, lets face it you dont see many 140lb male casters on them, more like 190-250lb. Ideally they need to have adjustable legs so that it can be levelled (not with bits of wood) that can withstand the caster jump...

Platform, or No Platform

My advice (for what its worth) practice as much as a you can on a platform if you intend to compete. Little things like how you transition on/off the platform, how you lay your running line out, your position on the platform during the cast, how to maximise the additional 50cm in height, step or no ...

Casting Sport growing.

The rise of casting events around the globe is a good thing, however the number of youngsters coming in to the sport ouside of the mid/eastern european countries is very few, there is the exception in Maxine McCormack (USA) who is one of a kind. I see the increase of the ICSF 'City' events is almost...

ICSF

Lee has a very valid point, the ICSF have historically been slow in updating their website.

Q - what is the benefit/point in providing an invitation booklet on a 'past' event.

Surely the salient points are only required - dates, cost and location.

Platform, or No Platform

Never been a fan of casting from platforms (always unstable), I asked at the 2009 WC's in Czech Republic if I could cast from the ground and was informed that only casts made from the platform would count. Needless to say that my distances reflected the fact that I prefer to cast from the ground rat...

Paul - it is possible to pick and choose rather than compete in all 9 - I certinaly have done in the past.

ICSF - it was proposed by the Norweigan casters a few years ago, proposed, voted on and accepted - Thorgier can shed better light on this.
