Re: Leader design and wind knots

I agree with paul, you took the initiative to upload the very first video of knots actually forming! Luckily my casting doesn't generate that bad of closed loops, I see them mostly at the end of my casts, and their isn't a collision, usually just a crossing. Although the fly will occasionally catch ...

Leader design and wind knots

Can leader design contribute to wind knots even when you're appearing to throw open loops? For example having a not so gradual taper to your leader having too much of an hinging effect. I'll get that occasional random knot even when my cast looked fine, or it seemed ( late tailing loop?) I'd like to...

Re: Fly lines cracking

How are you guys applying "shoot" or similar line lubricant\conditioner? Say I'm already on the water, is there that noticeable of a difference in the casting aspect?

Re: Arm extension and double haul

Of you were able to attach your rod to say a clothes line or even just run your thumb along it, in order to keep everything straight after your hand went behind your head you would have to turn your body ( or ark your back, uncomfortable) unless you stand completely sideways. This is how I came up w...

Re: Good budget fly rods

Redington path I feel are exceptional rods here in the US, I believe sage still owns or provides the blanks, I've had a 5 weight for two years now with no complaints.

Re: Fly lines cracking

I'm not entirely sure if anyone else uses this procedure as far as cracks, but I use UV expoxy as a temporary fix, it'll last quite awhile farther down the running line but around the head a new crack will usually form again around it in a few weeks. The gortex UV repair or loon Uv will work and tak...

Arm extension and double haul

I think this was brought up in the fishing distance category but to be a little more detailed, when carrying longer lengths of line and bringing the casting hand/arm only up to the head or just past the head so I still focus on completely extending the hauling arm even though my casting arm isn't co...

Re: Hauling and taking power out of rod hand.

Do you ever have students that punch it too hard at the end? Which raises the question is how hard is a hard stop? Just a slight squeeze or maintaining a really strong squeeze at the end, the word Powersnap I think can be misleading as a really powerful event when in reality you just need to stop th...
