Favorite bobbin
I need to get a couple of new bobbins. When I first started tying I got cheapo depot ones (except that they have a ceramic shaft). My hubby decided they were too tight for his liking and stretched them out. Now the thread just falls off the spool, and I've never been able to readjust them to where t...

Re: Dealing with spam help!
The gist of it is that Google may junk email from sending servers that are not using DMARC. In order to implement DMARC, you also need to implement SPF (which you already have on sexyloops.com) and DKIM. It's kind of like needing more than one thing to get a SLP of the rod tip. Somewhere I h...

Re: Dealing with spam help!
Paul, in my former career I was an email administrator and dealt with email security. If you send to me an email that was marked as spam, as an attachment, I can take a look at the internet header and see what's going on. It can take a bit to analyze it, and I'm rusty, but I'll give it a good spin. ...

Re: Mel Kriegers 'long roll cast'
I can't remember what video it was, but Mel was teaching the 'normal' jump roll, and i observed that he dipped the rod in a shallow saucer shaped tip path. In fact, i know a lot of chaps that teach this, and they get good results. Now. I think it's a "bonus feature" at the end of his Flyc...

Re: That whuuumpin' feeling
The .gif It looks much more like Paul's back slash-forward slash drawing than Hayes'. ;) Very interesting all the different ways to attempt the break though. Has anyone tried having the student pull against the line (or rope) in the overhead position while you hold the line from behind? Having them ...

Re: That whuuumpin' feeling
... so I analysed my own cast a bit more, specifically where I look when I'm trying to show my cleanest & tightest loops. What I noticed was that I was often watching the slow and steady development of the bend in the rod throughout the cast. Graeme, were you using video analysis for this, or casti...

Re: Overhang
Here are my thoughts on the subject https://www.sexyloops.com/index.php/ps/a-question-of-overhang That’s why I wrote an FP. I knew it was going to be a long reply :D Thank you for the FP and the awesome display of balance in the video. Happy Birthday to SL too! Your creation is into its second year...

That whuuumpin' feeling
Mel Krieger said that teaching acceleration was one of the hardest things to do. He recounted that there have been various ways to try to describe it but none of them were very good. So he came up with the word "Wuuuuump." He also said to "start heavy, start strong." Do you have any drills you use t...
