Re: Flyline database?

How about matching lines to rods? Some say that is a "thing." Of course, some of that comes down to personal preference and how one fishes.

Re: Line Friction and Line Tension

Thank you, Paul. Good stuff to experiment with. I think I have experienced haul lockup, though mine is more likely due to poor technique and a dirty fly line. As for textured lines, I've read conflicting reviews about them, but your ear muff explanation works best. Have any engineers on the board do...

Line Friction and Line Tension

I understand that the reason some folks use the Chinese-style grip, or turn the top 3 blanks 45 degrees off alignment, is to reduce friction between the line and rod blanks. How much difference does it make and does it depend upon the finish on the rod and the line, e.g. whether it textured? Also, h...

Re: Using Video while teaching

I often shoot video of the student, I ask them to shoot video of me and then it’s clear what I’m trying to explain to them. Do you then compare the body movements side-by-side in Coach's Eye or Huddle? Cuz that's a good idea: Here's how you're moving. He're is what the movement should look like. -C...

Re: Using Video while teaching

Thank you, Bernd and Paul. That is super helpful. Although fixing the body movement fixes the rod movement fixes the loop, it helps those of us with less teaching experience to see the loop first. I suppose as you get a lot of teaching experience, you can pretty much tell what the loop looks simply ...

Re: Physics Q/As for the casual reader

For what it's worth, I love the idea. It'd be a central database that summarizes years of accumulated knowledge and experience. At the end of each summary, perhaps there could be links to the more in-depth, equation-oriented physics debates for those willing to enter that zone.

Re: Using Video while teaching

Thank you, Jarmo!!

Pretty amazing difference. The ffplay feature is pretty keen. One of these days I may learn to use a complicated video editing tool, but it seems like it will take a bit of dedication and mental CPUs. I like good ole C:\>

Was a conclusive consensus every achieved at your post-competition soirée? We were just talking about this very thing (or something close enough) last night in our CCI COVID Zoom meeting.

Re: Wading boots by shoe companies

Anyone had a look at canyoning boots? I have a guide friend who swears by them. Think this was the brand http://www.upandunder.co.uk/Watersports/Clothing/Footwear/P---Canyon-Guide---35531/ . Those look really interesting, though perhaps a bit hot?? I've not done any canyoning, but have spent a litt...
