Hi Glenda I fish barbless almost exclusivly nowadays. You don't lose anymore fish, more the other way around if you fight fish properly (no slack). Releasing fish is faster. The selfcaught fish are the best, you know how it's been handled after being caught, and it doesn't get fresher to the table....

you said it - "ex" fishing buddy/partner. Sounds like he wanted an weird sort of excuse for not praticing casting. I am personally not so very interested in casting as a sport, but the guys I know competeing are all together damn good fishermen.
