Just about to build an Epic 580. Guides placed on the spine or opposite ? Does it make much difference. Any thoughts.........John

TZ's Nymph Box.
Thanks Thomas, very nice. Love the translucent effect on the abdomen. Have found it hard to find really permanent marker for Nymph Skin. What lasts ? Flourescent pink definitely has something. Every time I use it as in indicator yarn I get takes. Flouro green, not so much. Best Regards and thanks for...

Really like the look of those nymphs TZ, especially the olive ones. Did you include the tying instruction in your excellent series ?........................John .

Sunray Micro Thin Fly Lines
http://www.snowbee.co.uk/fly-fishing/fly-lines-backing/ More info here. If this is actually a 2wt ,then it is quite feasible to cast it on a 5wt. Wouldn't be inclined to use it in wind but I regularly underline in calm conditions. The problem here is the description being used. It obviously can't be...

Benefits of fiberglass rods
The rod is a nice rod for handling any 5 weight line I have put on it (and many 4 and 6 weights too.) How you make it work with them is up to you. Thanks Graeme, that's helpful. If it can handle a 6wt comfortably then it should be well able for the SLX. On another point I have the impression that a...

Benefits of fiberglass rods
Anybody got any experience of the Epic 580. How will it deal with a couple of 3ml beads on a long leader and something like a Barrio SLX line. Have a 9ft Loomis which does the job fine but would like an 8ft for tight streams. Should I stick to CF for casting weight......................John

Is there intelligence in fish?
Ah, brown Maxima the invisible stuff .My local water in mid Summer in daylight means 7X for dry fly or very few fish. Nothing stronger than 6X for nymphs. Sure, small juvenile fish are easier to catch than bigger mature fish, does that mean that fish learn as they get older ? and a sign of some sort...

Is there intelligence in fish?
The reason I ask re gourami is because I once watched one inspect a fly for five minutes and refuse it. 30 second refusals/eats are not uncommon. I've watched them refuse, swim away 5 metres and return and eat the fly. It's the only fish I know that does this. Surely the problem here is the heavy b...
