Re: How did you go about fishing casting to competion casting?

Hi Phil, If you want to compare yourself to others, I would suggest start casting with the Scientific Angelers Expert Distance #5. This is the line that is used most in competitions. It is the only one allowed at the world championships and all BFCC #5 records, in the last 10 years, have been thrown...

Re: How did you go about fishing casting to competion casting?

For me it started back in the days when the Best of the West competitions where run. I also followed all other competitions closely. I remember checking the BFCC website for results when I knew a competition had taken place. At the same time I discovered Sexyloops and in 2007 competed for the first ...

Re: HT10 photos

Hi Nick,
The only thing I changed on my HT's is the handle.
The standard one is a bit to thick for my taste.

Cheers, Bart

Re: PUALD Challenge

My entry #2 for the PULD Challenge. Distance: 40.2m I uploaded it to youtube to be able to post it here and for better quality. While I think it is a decent distance for a PULD, I was not satisfied at all. The grass prevented me from picking up more than 21m of line and I could not extend my backcas...

Re: Fly casting challenge 2

No. Sorry, I didn't read well enough what the exact challenge was.
I am not even going to try left handed. Will try blindfolded.

Cheers, Bart

Re: Fly casting challenge 2

I can do 90' for sure. Have been doing this a lot recently with a #5 DT and the #10 HT.
100' might be a challenge but I am definitely up for it.

Cheers, Bart

Re: Rod length to distance, it does not make sense

Hi Bart I take it you were hauling the hand casts? Cheers, Dirk Hi Dirk. This was indeed with hauling. Here is a rule of the thumb based on the assumption that distance achieved directly depends on line energy. If you divide rod length by 2, you loose 1/3 in distance. If you divide by 4 you loose h...

Rod length to distance, it does not make sense

Yesterday some of us dutch guys came together for some casting. Now I've got tons of excuses, but bottom line is I was not in my best shape and struggled to cast over 120ft. While trying to explain something to someone about the haul (details don't matter), I was casting without a rod. Without a rod...

Re: Scientific Anglers MPX Question

Not much to add to Lars his observations. I have the MPX in a #5 and #6, but only use them for students. They are very easy to cast and my students like them. They also have that compound taper which should delay turnover and improve presentation. I can’t comment on that since I have not used them f...

RIP Cornelis van den Adel

I am sad to say that we have lost Cornelis van den Adel. He passed away yesterday after a rather long fight against cancer. With him we lose the only international double handed competition caster Holland currently had. I really hoped to represent team NL at the next worlds with him, but it was not ...
