Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Sure. But something like the Danish Games but with a variable course format would work for you. If you set something like that up at the BFCC I’d certainly enter when over. I’d train for it too, which is the whole point. I’d love to see a whack-a-mole type competition but it’s not very applicable to...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

There is a lot in there, Vince. My principle reason is for skills development. For me it has a direct benefit on the reason I do anything, which is to go fishing. Very similar to triathlon actually. I’m not there to compete against anyone. I’m there because it makes me train. That in turn affects my...

Tor

I was shocked to get a message from Lee just now that Tor has died. https://www.facebook.com/share/rGKj8xmpLPcs4rL2/?mibextid=WC7FNe I always thought he would live a very long life. One of the best casters and being beaten by him in the WCs in Norway, in the same conditions, was very inspiring to me...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

“Because it’s fun” was her reply. Your stretch made a difference today, John. The “chuckit” ball launcher also resonated. Thanks. Something I was thinking about today is that targets aren’t just there for tracking but also for stability. Foot position as we know is critical. It both blocks and facil...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Not just unfreezing the body but stopping movement from the ground up. Moving momentum up through the body by blocking or braking stages in turn. Weight shift stops -> sequence then moves to stopping torso twist -> then to blocking forearm -> then the wrist hinges and the hand turns the rod over. Ma...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Hi Vince, I call that “torso twist” and is the next link up the chain. Then there is upper arm, lower arm and ultimately wrist. Technically speaking they all move/hinge weight around. My use of the term “weight shift” is between feet. Like in baseball and so on. I think we’ve talked about this befor...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

What you call weight shifting is referred to as "the hippo hop" by us dancers :D Weight shift for me is initiating the cast by moving 90% of the body weight from one foot to the other. Ground up. Really moving into the realms of distance performance here. I rarely use it when fishing. But...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

A couple of weeks is ridiculous Paul, but I remember the claim :) I don't see any value in putting a timetable on it. It doesn’t matter if it’s two years or five years. The point is to recognise that it’s a long process with many steps that need to be learned (autonomic) before moving on. I imagine...
