Re: Structuring multiple lessons

When I was 18 I drove an old series 3 Land Rover to Dartmoor and spent a month there. Two years in a row in fact. They might think I was an escaped convict now.

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Best would be both! Many anglers don’t have either cast at the beginning. As you know I teach the full complement of presentation casts and mends, as well as loops and rod in all planes. Beginners, instructors and competition casters get a more restricted lessons structure. Most of my students howev...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

That’s a very bizarre argument Vince. The definition of better is “more desirable, satisfactory, or effective:”. If we don’t know what that is then I don’t know why they are coming for a lesson! I’m still improving. My shots are getting tighter. And I’ve just figured out a way to increase the distan...

Re: polyurethane line cleaning

I recommend using fire. A flamethrower will remove all traces of dirt :)

Thanks John. Yes I thought Phil was tremendous. I certainly learned a great deal.

Re: Is this fly casting?

I like French Nymphing. But I wouldn’t want to do it all the time. I do believe it’s easier than some other Nymphing techniques. But done to a high level it’s an extremely high level. I believe I’m more focussed with the FN.

Cheers,
Paul

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

I agree with that Mark. However there is always something above and beyond our grasp. There are many people who have developed a wide range of control but still want to be better. If you have the same student over a long enough time frame you pass through this. I think we go from the loop organising...

Re: streamer drag design

That’s not really what I need, Gary. I want something I can cast high speed, floats when waiting for the shot and will pull subsurface when stripped. Sometimes the snakehead won’t look up. But there is not enough time for fly in hand and if the fly sinks while waiting for the shot this is also too s...

Re: streamer drag design

Hi Gary,

Some years back Flavio and I experimented with Lips. What do you use, and what have you learned with this?

We were trying cutting up empty beer cans. It’s what we had available.

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

I mean sequencing of lessons. I think it has everything to do with sequencing of lessons. For me it would go something like loop control exercises watching back and forward loops. Then very much later (many months, if not in fact years) I would start with hitting targets in the vertical without wat...
