Re: Temperature effects on Brown trout.
I feel it with you guys!!! Today they closed my local river for fishing, as the water temperature has been around 17,5 degrees Celsius for the last couple of days. According to the official rules, the river will be closed when the temperature hits 18 degrees Celsius (or more), but I guess they alrea...

Re: What line for an 11' 3wt?
Hi
Why don’t you write an email to the company, and ask them what lines (or line weights) they themselves recommend?
Anyway, just a suggestion, as I have no idea what line you should use.
Cheers, Bendix

Re: Low end rods and 110 to 115
I agree that cheap rods will usually be up to the task of casting just as well as the expensive rods. But I have also experienced, that the components, reel seat, cork, and the overall build quality can be quite poor on cheap rods (and even some in the middle price bracket). So as long as you check ...

Re: Line organisation/labelling,identity
Hi Alan The way I keep track of my lines, may be too late for you, if you say you have more lines than boxes… But I have more lines than I have reels. And the way I organize them, is to never keep my lines on my reels. Instead, I keep my WF lines on the spools they were delivered on, which has the r...

Re: Which line weight for a multi rated rod?
Hi Alan
I won’t suggest any lines, as I don’t know the rod, or the Barrio line you mention. Maybe others will know better than me.
But when they wrote #7/8 on the rods back in the day, they typically meant that you should use a #7 DT line, or an #8 WF line.
Hope this helps a bit.

Re: Spey Casting left handed
Hi All I have the day off from work today, so I have just returned from an hour long practice session with the left hand. I got a good half hour with the DH rod, and a good half hour with the SH rod. And things are really starting to look good! Especially the “angle in, angle out” tip from Paul was ...

Re: Spey Casting left handed
Hi again Graeme, thanks for the advice about trying the cast on a lake or stillwater. However, there’s not really any suitable lakes where I live, so all I have is the river and a large lawn in a park. But I might try your advice on grass, as I have practiced Spey casting on grass many times before ...

Re: Spey Casting left handed
Hi Paul Thanks for your response! Regarding the backcast and D loop not being far enough behind me, is a bit of an issue… Because I’m standing on the bank, and if the D loop goes too far behind me, then it’ll hit the bank and the vegetation, and the cast will be ruined. When casting normally with my...

Spey Casting left handed
Hi All I am a right handed person and caster, but every once in a while I find myself on the “wrong” side of the river, when I’m fishing my local Salmon river. And so, I have spent a couple of days this week practicing casting from the wrong side, with both my Double Hand and my Single Hand rod, as ...
