Re: T38 lines
From my own experience the variation in the lines is massive, even checking them from the same batch purchased there where a number of inconsistencies, considering the cost of the lines. Sine looked like they where made from bamboo. I’ve ended up using 3 lines to create 1 useable line. Im no fly lin...

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
The reality is that - Some countries will limit travel and places to travel to/from. Flights will be dearer (Airlines wanting to regain lost profits). Hotels will be dearer (same reason as Airlines). People will have additional expenses due to additional loans to get them through. Life will become m...

Re: Essential Level Challenge Competition
Not wanting to be labelled a spoilsport.... The Covid-19 virus is on the spread in many places around the world, with many countries taking extreme measures and strict quarantine being applied. Do you think this might hamper any sporting gatherings (e.g. World Championships etc.) ? Recently, I exper...

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
James, What / who was the drive to be included ? The inclusion only happened relatively recent (2-4 years). Is there a board or elected representatives (flycasting) who meet with the ICSF executive board or is it just a single board with joint interest ? Pulling out might be a long (&difficult) proc...

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
Really need Thorgier to contribute here as there is minimal to no comms from either the organisers or the ICSF. It’s very frustrating as a self funded competitor, that can end up you questioning why you actually need to bother when there are other events that are more demanding with the same competi...

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
Well said John. If you notice, those countries who are pushing forward aren’t those who have a major influence within the ICSF executive board. Whilst Flycasting is on the up, Castingsport unfortunately is in decline and has been for a number of years. From a relative outsiders view there is a great...

Castingsport is over grass so that measuring is done with a laser.

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
All 8 casting lanes ? As a qualified football coach I am aware of the min/max size if football pitches. It’s very similar to having a big tree or a 2 storey building directly behind you when casting a fly line. The bid book is there for a reason, a complete set of guidelines relating to area size, l...

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
Here in the UK, we regularly cast 110m+ with plugs, with 33% of the disciplines requiring fields bigger than 110m then why only look for places the same size as a football pitch ?
I’ve attended numerous WCs since 2004 and get fed up when the location is too small.

Re: Swedish Worlds 2020
Part of the hosting process is to identify a location that meets or exceeds the bid book. What is the point in hosting an event where the area for casting is too small ? If you look at it from the competitors eyes, you want to perform to your best and cast well, in the distance events you want to ma...
