Re: WC - overall
Henry, For the problem of a podium caster stuck in heat, there is the lucky loser system possible. May that be based on result in absolute distance and/or percent of distance compared to the winner of that heat (in this latter the best casters end up in same heat and cast in the worst conditions). M...

Re: WC - overall
In Finland we have had quite a few that have competed once or twice. Normally they have a 9' rod, a reel, leader & tippet. The rest they borrow. Then they find out that the tackle is (quite) extreme. And they find out that they are very much behind. So they figure that it is pointless as they wo...

Re: WC - overall
Nils, To answer the question appointed to Lasse, a 17m 38g head would be made roughly from 10wt line. From fishing tackle point of view, shooting head distance is missing now as really nobody uses so long heads for fishing as are used in sea trout distance. When we had 12,5m max, 18g max with 9' max...

Re: WC - overall
Nils, 18g head is not a 5wt. Actually, I used 14g a bit over 10m head with my trout distance rod (labeled as 5). The general recommendation is 28g head for ”8et” rod. I would like max 18g and max ie 12,5m head. For pike people use short heavier lines, but it is not about distance at all. In spey 15’...

Re: WC - overall
I do not understand the overall really. Has not been a real success in other sports much - at least none pop to my head. In track and field it is a completely standalone thing. I have a good chance to be good (if I take part in all events), but I don’t really care. The tackle should be more close to...

Re: WC - overall
For the 2013 Nordic Championship we proposed several rule changes and many additional definitions (like leader thickness could have not been 3cm and making reasonable line connections easily without fear of getting disqualified). The rules did not go through unfortunately. One of the main changes wa...

Re: Drag maintenance
I would do it myself. That way I could maintain the reel on the road if necessary.

Re: Drag maintenance
Clean the rest, not just the one way bearing. You need to pop the cone out etc.

Re: Drag maintenance
Which Lamson? Most of them are the same (excluding cobalt and maybe some other). For the one way bearing you should be able to get it put by unscrewing the toothed cap and then tap out the bearing. Check the rollers visible inside. If they are rusty, it might be not possible to restore its functioni...

Re: #10 line recommendation
I chase tuna with Rio Flats Pro full intermediate 10 (true 11 as it is one weight heavy) and it has 60lb core. But I recon it would work as a floating version for your needs.
50ft head on these. Disgusting price thou.
