Re: Line recommendations for a GLoomis GLX

Hi Fozz,
I would also check out the trout standard.
A little bit shorter belly and front taper than the trout.

Re: 6 piece salmon rod suggestions

Thanks for the tips all.
I decided to not be a sucker.
If a world champion spey casters advices a rod for 1/10 of the price of some of the others, I would be stupid not to give it a try.
I just ordered the Shakespeare 😀

Re: 6 piece salmon rod suggestions

Hi Sakke, I am thinking about something between 13 and 14ft #8/9. It should be as allround as possible. I am traveling around a lot with a Motorhome with my wife and kids. This summer we will go to Norway. And I will regularly visit Ireland and Scotland. I usually fish the smaller rivers with a sing...

Re: 6 piece salmon rod suggestions

Thanks Lasse.
I noticed them too. Do you have have any experience with them?
I am a bit sceptical about the whole Graphene thing. It seems like marketing blurb to drive the prices up. But that’s only what I heard other people saying.

Re: 6 piece salmon rod suggestions

Thank you very much Bendix. I wasn’t aware that Sage made 6 piece double handers. I always very much enjoyed my single handed Sage’s. Will check them out. Maybe I should not have mentioned high end rods. I considered buying something cheap to start with, but decided I am willing to invest a bit. Thi...

6 piece salmon rod suggestions

I am in the market for a 6 piece double hander.
As I am a sucker for nice gear I am looking at the premium range.
I know it is all very personal, but do any of you have suggestions for top end rods? I am thinking about a #8/9

I Never figured out this shooting head casting as for me in low wind conditions they always collapse.
That would be another definition but to be sure we would need Bart to test them. If Bart’s not available I can offer my services

Re: Integrated Shooting Head Lines

Hi John, Sorry for my ignorance. Do you have an example of a head with a multi tapered profile? I am not really sure what you mean by it and how this profile's differ from other profile's. Again sorry if I am giving this thread a difficult start. It must be annoying if you think you ask a simple que...

Re: The stop revisited.

I’m not a brainy one Pom, it is throwing. The principles used to create and transfer speed to the hand that apply to darts, javelin etc. also apply to casting. The myth that fly casting is unique because we throw a long flexible line and not a ball or other object is incorrect. You accelerate, tran...
