The witness part is the tricky one, I practice alone...

Flycasting, so simple that instructors need to make it complicated since 1685

Yeah... OK, I just gave it a shot.
How about y'all make a senior division with the target at 85 feet?
With a NRX 6wt and a GT125 5wt line, 85 is about the best I can do with any kind of reproducibility left handed. And to be honest, that actually surprised me. I have never thought to practice distance casting with my left hand... it was always about fishing casts.
85 feet is roughly 75% of my right-hand distance casts these days, which is actually a lot more than I expected.

Well I know I can throw 100ft. What I don’t know is if I can throw anywhere near a target. But the point is not can we do it now, the point is can we do it by the end of March?
Cheers, Paul

At the moment not me...
Had a go today. Thought narrow stroke= less room for error- shocking, looked like shit 60feet max, but it was with HT10, maybe softer rod will do..?
30 days to go

OK then, by the end of March.
I can't seem to add any distance to my right hand anymore. But, there is plenty of room for improvement with my left.
Who knows, maybe my left will teach me something?

Tried today - no where near achievable for me. I think a 100ft one-handed cast with a #5 is a pretty tough cast with your dominant arm, but with the wrong one I'm nearer 80ft.

James, just use a 7 weight, no one will measure anyway
And I agree, I still have Stefans challenge in fresh memory, and 100ft dominant hand took a while to do.
I remember it was easier with a softer rod
Cheers

So long as I write "#5" on the box it came out of we're good right?Lasse Karlsson wrote:James, just use a 7 weight, no one will measure anyway
