First measured cast with my new HT Comp 5 (v2)
Hi all,
I took the HT out for a quick cast today, with the Ballistic Pro Performance #5. The conditions were pretty still (and cold!). I still need a lot of practice to really dial in and fine tune the rod, but it was very enjoyable to cast. Tight chisel shaped loops with a noticeable increase in line speed.
All the best

Great cast mate. Seems I was wrong when I thought you would go backwards before you went forwards! That’s very impressive!
Have you increased your carry?
Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul,
Thank you! Carry is still in the same place as before, but it feels easier. My leader was actually 8' 6" and not the maximum 11' 10" (BFCC), so i'm sure with the right leader length (and tons of practice with this new rod) i'll hopefully be hitting 120' in still conditions more often than not.
What would you say is the maximum distance possible with this rod?
All the best!

I don’t think the rod has a maximum distance. I do think that the line has a maximum distance. But people (myself included) have cast further than what I think it is. I actually have no idea what the maximum “assisted” distance is. That would depend on wind, altitude and height above ground. Unassisted I would say no more than 135’ and even that would be quite extraordinary.
Cheers, Paul

I think there's been cast further than 135 feet with a 5 weight line indoors, would that count as unassisted, or do drafts and aircondition count as assisting
