Hi all
I was just send a link to a podcast on youtube
Tom Rowland says he won the best of the west with a 131 foot cast back in 1998. Given all the fuss in the 00's about the shift to the XXD line in a comp version that was 120 feet long and that rarely anyone threw 120 feet. I am wondering if it maybe was an outdoor event back then?
Anyone have any info about the competition back then?
Cheers
Lasse

Hi Lasse,
There where qualifying rounds.
Some of them where outdoors. Maybe he threw that distance in one of them.
As far a I remember Steve has the longest indoor Best of the West cast. About 125ft.
Cheers Bart

Hi Bart
Yeah, it's more that apperantly someone threw 131 feet with 1998 lines, even the steelhead and xd tapers back then where under 60 feet. Everyone where impressed with 120 feeters back in 2003-4 and no one mentioned that it had been outdone with a "normal" line a few years before. And outdone with a large margin.
Cheers
