New to the Board?

Quick translate on Bianchetti Ivan's post:
Hello everybody
I'm Bianchetti Ivan I'm 56 years old and I've been fishing for about 30 years since 1993, since 1993 I'm a fly fishing and fly fishing instructor (UNPEM), I'm not competing but I'm passionate about technical launches Brescia, northern Italy. I've read a few discussions here, I am very positively interested, I think I will intrude myself often, in search of knowledge !!
It's great to have you on the Board Ivan! Google translate doesn't do too well translating casting terms but I usually understand what you say :pirate:
È bello farti al Board Ivan! Google translate non fa troppo bene tradurre i termini del casting, ma di solito capisco quello che dici

Welcome to the Board, Bob. I would be interested in possibly joining your team for FIPS. It would undoubtedly be the best way of tuning up my nymphing techniques. Looking forward to seeing you in Cumbria. Email me any time paul@sexyloops.com
I'll try to visit Jersey before the Worlds in Cumbria next summer. There is an International fly fishing competition here in Malaysia on my home water, which I might enter next July, which would prevent an early departure if I commit.

Which events are you planning to enter in Cumbria?

Cheers, Paul

I will come back to a fuller presentation of myself, but in short I advocate a full wrist fly casting technique, and a grip that enables full range of motion in wrist, elbow and shoulder! In addition... physics in flycasting is less important than the art of motion between human, rod and line..

Hi, my name is Andrew and I am from the US. I'm hoping to learn more about casting, particularly spey type casts. I mostly fish saltwater because more often than not you are stalking the fish and can see the take.

Hey Andrew - great and welcome to the Board! Which part of the US? I’m sort of the same - love the sight fishing too - and taking “shots” at moving targets. It’s the most fun!

Cheers, Paul

New to the Board?

Hi and thanks for letting me in here.
I've been a fly fisher for 5-6 years still considering myself a rookie. I'm living in Copenhagen, Denmark.
I'm very much into fly casting which I think can be much more exciting than the fishing itself. What happens to the rod and line as we put energy into it is complex and challenging to understand and explain in depth, but our explanations though gives us good and usable tools for understanding and teaching the skills needed. This understanding and teaching and how to pass it on to new fly fishers I think is important thereby getting people to spend time on an analogue discipline which again can lead to a raised awareness on environmental issues.
I'm right now preparing for a re-test for the CI, - yes missed my first attempt, thinking I was prepared, - but...
When not fly casting I'm a veterinarian teaching veterinary students surgery, and this passing on knowledge and skills, seeing the light in the eye of student as the heureka moments arrives I find very rewarding. I hope to be able do the same in fly casting too in a not too distant future :)

Best regards
Asger

Good morning. I’m new to the board so writing about myself.
I’m Craig Bandoroff and live in Lexington Ky and also have a home on Bald Head Island, North Carolina. I have a paralyzed right arm from an injury as a teenager so I only have the use of my left arm and hand. I learned to fish about 10-15 years ago and started with a $30 Phfleuger reel. A fly shop told me about Vivarelli reels and they have worked great for me. But the game changer with my fishing happened when someone told me about a harness called Rexfly. You strap it on your chest and there is an adapter you put on your reel. It enables you to put the rod onto the harness so now I can also fish with regular reels. I have learned that the regular reels work great for me when I don’t have to strip to catch fish. However when fishing for bones or redfish I have learned through trial and error that the semiautomatic reel works better. I have had guides tell me that I fish as well as many two handed fishermen. Please tell anyone who has one arm or hand they can fish!! Get the Rexfly and they will be good to go. CraigB

Hi Craig, welcome to the Board! I know an instructor in the UK who manufactures - or did manufacture - specialist fishing equipment for anglers with the use of only one arm. I shall post in the thread you started. Great to have you on the Board!

Thanks, Paul

Thanks for the add Paul. I live in the North of England fishing for Trout and Grayling, I only like fishing rivers for some reason.
I have been fishing for around 10 years and really want to work on my casting ability for no other reason than to become a better fly angler.
Paul has sent me the link to essential level challenge and having had a quick look it seems to be the perfect place for me to start. I guess I am going to need some tuition early in 2020 to do this right, cheers.
