Hello everyone,
My name is Gavan Hennessy. I am from Ireland, but am currently living in San Francisco. I’ve been a passionate fly angler all my life with a particular fondness for the beautiful Lough Corrib in Co. Galway where I lived and guided for many years and still have a home. I am a member of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club where I put my HT Instructor rod to good use teaching people and leading fishing trips. The Sexyloops website is full of fantastic information and I’m happy to join the board, learn more and hopefully contribute also.
Tight lines, Gavan

Hey Gavan, great to have you here! How does the golden gate casting club function? Can you just turn up at any time and practise?
Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul,
Yep, the ponds are actually open to the public and you can turn up anytime to practice. Most people join the club also, which gives access to the clubhouse and all the club events etc. There are free lessons open to the public once a month and generally we get anywhere from 120-210 people who register - quite the handful to manage as you can imagine! It’s a great spot and well worth a visit, plenty of interesting characters and some fine casters.

We have developed ways of managing it. Makes us quite efficient in delivering the key messages, that’s for sure.
