Truly excellent Dirk! I shall endeavour to find somewhere suitable to film loops. I’d love to have both accuracy as well as distance loops analysed and contrasted. Maybe also some dynamic rolls and aerielised snaps.

Those would be nice. I'm sceptical though of the feasibility of shooting a head-to-tail distance cast.

Another wish-list item: something close to a "straight line, 180 rule" cast.

Yes - that would be my accuracy cast. I really want to see that too. Finding somewhere to shoot videos of loops has always been a challenge for me. I'm off to Europe on Monday for three weeks. I'll keep my eyes open for somewhere suitable.

Now including the forward cast’s stroke pre-RSP, here is a consolidated fingerprint from Graeme’s normal cast footage, from back-cast stroke pre-RSP/prequel (on the left below the gap) to final turnover of the forward cast (on the left above the gap):

The blue lines represent the line’s configuration at (near) RSP on the back- and forward casts.

This is fantastic Dirk. I haven’t found anywhere suitable to make an accuracy style cast yet but I am constantly looking. Best might be the dark side of a floodlit field.

Graeme, you are welcome to use it. It is you cast after all. And it does look like art, doesn't it?

Apart from an accuracy cast, or anything that comes close to "true 180" if such a thing is possible, I would also love to have a short (so the camera doesn't need to be far away) shoot cast to analyse.

I'll also see if I can make at least one of those casts for you, but the 170° requires a lot of mass outside the tip and a long carry.

A 170° cast would be interesting too, but I meant 1) a tethered cast coming as close as possible to "obeying" the 180° rule, according to Paul - his accuracy cast, where the line does not linger so much below the loop plane and 2) a simple overhead shoot cast, short for the sake of resolution, but as far as possible unconstrained in the shoot.
