This could be nonsense, but not being an expert on materials etc etc, I always thought that pulling the line with the left, it helps to eliminate the elasticity, giving the lever a way to exploit more mass, probably am I wrong?

I guess you speak about eliminating the slack in the line, but here we consider the case where the line is rolling over (forward) and then the left hand or the rod tip pulls back on the line. Have a look at Gordy's video at the beginning of this thread.
