Size of guides of a flycasting rod

#1

Post by Stefano De Martini »

Hello everyone, I am always looking for details that can, combined with others, provide better performance in fly casting. In this case my attention is on the rod guides. Surely the size of the guides and their position have some importance on the performance of a rod, but looking at this video I realized that this aspect is not negligible.

Usually I build my rods myself, so I did some experiments with incredible and not at all obvious results. Wide guides, narrow guides, more or less friction, more stable line, what do you think? Has anyone ever experimented with this?

I enjoyed that!
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.
