Dragged upwards? I’m not sure I understand that bit :)

Cheers, Paul
Does pulled work better for you?

What happens to the anchor part of a spey cast, does it peel over and stay close to the surface, or does the line in front of it pull/drag it upwards and forwards?

Cheers

It makes no difference at all whether you are in a fishing environment or on a casting court. Technique transcends all casting environments, irrespective of what, and where, those environments exist.
