Does pulled work better for you?

What happens to the anchor part of a spey cast, does it peel over and stay close to the surface, or does the line in front of it pull/drag it upwards and forwards?

My apologies to those kind enough to respond. I forgot to subscribe to thread and thought it had died. As usual the group has more than answered my question and solidified the theory bouncing around in my head when I can't sleep.
