Does anyone actually think that the "deal" in Paris will stop or reverse Global Warming?

Cheers, Paul

Nope, I don't - and I don't think we can stop global warming at all...
There's no doubt that parts of the global warning is caused by humans, but part of it are likely not, and we can't stop it. We certainly can minimise our impact, and I think we cannot underestimate the importance of doing so, but stop it? Nope...

not many talk about greenhouse effect caused by meat production - it is at least as big as all transportation means combined. The whole thing is about money .... take Norway - if they would be serious about it they would stop drilling for oil. They don´t. Heck - do I stop driving in a car? Nope. We´re doomed ...

Completely agree T.Z. but in my view the Paris agreement is about finally now getting serious about it.

From now onwards its about making changes

I'm totally biased towards the results of the paris summit, as I'd love to believe something is gonna change but actually nothing is gonna happen too soon. At least this might raise some sort of awareness but governments and industries will find ways to sneak out and keep on their dirty business.
Germany is trying to ban their coal-fired power plants to minimize the impact on global warning but on the other hand there will be new short-sighted attempts to generate green energy with water, leading to more dams in the alps and less trout for us.
The only true solution is to move on a boat and live from the fruits of the jungle, damn Paul was ahead of the pack again...

I'm amazed that people I know still don't believe it even exists.

Paris feels like a start if nothing else and even our very conservative government here is at least no longer pretending it's just some BS cooked up by science types to scare people.

Wait and see.

That suits me very well: we're flying to London tonight from Western Australia. Low teens won't be too much "thermal shock" for me. :)
