It can also be how your backcast has straightened, or not, if there is a big sag in the line when you start the forwards cast bits of the line (the fly) are directed downwards. This is basically a form of dangling end that can potential clip you.

You can get the same line configuration breaking the 180 (trajectories).

Interesting, I did notice at times when I drift I create a bit of slack.
I have deleted the footage from when I was doing it last a couple of weeks ago...it would have been interesting to see if I had that little bit of slack then.
Thanks for all the help.....if it starts happening again I now have a few different things to look for and try to rectify.

Jason.

Slack and Sag are different for me Jason. I’ll need to draw some art. But I’m in the boat swinging in a hammock. I’ll do this tomorrow :D

Cheers Paul

PS the video would have been tremendous!

To whom it may concern
I’m wondering what happened to the circular loop discussed in this thread ,is it a “circular loop” or a “loop the loop” did anyone film one or come up with a definitive explanation!

Hi Pom, no but if you look at that loop I posted as the Dolphin Nose it is a complete circle instead of a U-shape. They may or may not be related!
