Wet fly line

I went fishing last night and it started to lightly rain. It seemed as soon as everything got wet the fly line stuck to the rod, even with the rod just held out straight the line was stuck to the top half of the rod. Made it hard getting a cast going. Any cures for this?
I wasn't going to pack up and go home as they had just started biting

Is it an old fly line you are using, or is it relatively new?

I have often experienced the same, once my lines start getting old and worn down. If this is the case, you can try cleaning the line with an appropriate cleaning agent, and then dressing it in some lubricant made for fly lines. Also, try cleaning the rod blank.

If this is not the case, then I have no idea what to do…

Not all lines come out the box equal. Polyurethane lines I find incredibly sticky. If it’s a floating line you can use silicone oil. I use 10CST. It’s probably sticking to the rod itself. Also try this if you haven’t:

I already use the twisting trick ( which really helped my casting )
Yes the line was sticking to the rod between rings.
It's a cheap line so sounds like it needs something on it

In that case it sounds like a duff line. Silicone oil can help to an extent. Worth checking your rings as well. Particularly the tip ring.
