Well I am very excited. Thursday was the first time I've seen the lake above 32C. 32C I believe is the magic number to see "free-rising" Snakehead. And sure enough they were up. Had two eats and two other chases in the afternoon session. Friday I couldn't find them - not a shot all day. Saturday afternoon I lost a big barstool off babies. Such is life.
Anyway I'm amazed to see the thermocline at 34ft. I can only have been 2-3 weeks ago when it was at 17ft. That's remarkable. The days here have been hot 37/38C max every afternoon for several weeks now. And no rain since January. Last night it rained a little here in Grik, I don't know if it rained at Banding. That's 40KM away and often rain is very localised.
I think this is going to be a bumper year!
Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul
wow that's hot.
If you throw some fish fillets in the water
you have instant fish soup.

Hi Vince,
what are the water temps in QLD? Up NT they must be the same as here?
Hope you are well! I have a boat waiting for you, by the way. I’d love you to come over - your poppers work very well here!
Cheers, Paul

NZ fishing is hard work. I’ve never fished anywhere that requires so much effort between fish! Here it’s the afternoon heat that’s draining. How did you get on there?
I may be back in Oz in December/January, Vince. I shall try and visit you if I am!
Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul
I have never seen the area where we went in NZ was in drought, every where the grass was dried to yellow colour,
hasn't rained for a while, the weather when we were there it was mid thirties,
the water temps in the rivers was 23 - 24 deg. and low water. the fishing was slow for us.
You are welcome anytime Paul, I go to Sydney from Christmas to 10 January visit the son and daughter.
any time before or after is OK.
