Lanyard segmented neck foam

#1

Post by nicholasfmoore »

Hi all,

I am currently building some fishing lanyards, and i have everything i need except for the segmented neck foam! Do any of you know what it is called, and even better, where i could get this from? I do think it is superior over a single piece of rigid tubing, as it is more flexible.

Thank you all in advance!

All the best

Nick

Not sure. But is a closed cell foam so you could probably make some which would look terrible if I did!

Google; Strap foam.
Eva round foam.

Also; camera straps, foam straps, sport shops and boating accessoiries.

Cutting up thick hollow foam and stringing it would make for a nice segmented strap;

Thank you all for your help! I have actually found out what they were from, which was a relief. I was going slightly mad trying to find it! For anyone else who is interested in making one, it's from a 'floating glasses strap' and this is the one i have found. Now, i just need to find the foam on it's own, as i don't need the strap!

Thank you.

Hi Paul,

Sorry, i've only just seen this! managed to find the foam, and i have made quite a few now, still haven't sold any, as everyone i know seems to use a vest. I have a few boat anglers that are interested though! I have attached a photo of one below, i should take a photo of mine. This was for someone that wanted a snap swivel on the bottom :sorcerer:

Ah didn’t know you were selling them - good luck! Looks great to me; is that a magnetic clip on the right?

I don’t use waistcoats either. I had one for a while that I had made; short, less pockets to lose stuff but being the fashion conscious man than I am, I’ve never felt too comfortable in them. They remind me of being back at school or working in an office actually :D

I used a chest pack for a while. Had a WJ one that I really liked but it was stolen out the truck. They changed the design for the next one and it was impossible to see my feet, which was damned dangerous when boulder hopping!!

I tried a nice Fishpond backpack with front pockets that got in the way of hauling. So gave up on that one.

So it’s a bumbag for me. Not great for deep wading or deep crossings, so everything has to be in waterproof bags. Waterproof flybox etc. I don’t like the design of the waterproof fishing bumbags - too bulky.

I reckon a shoulder pack would be a good idea!

Cheers, Paul
