Why don’t you serve them in the restaurant? Don’t call the carp, but give them a luxurious sounding name, such as “Golden Pancake Fish”. Specially imported from Europe for the discerning connoisseur.

Do you have grass carp over there? Hands down there are some of the best tasting freshwater fish I’ve eaten. Not so sure about common carp but it’s always been served in a fishy form of paprika Goulash that only Hungarians can fully appreciate.

Same same, fines apply equally for returning, or keeping the fish.
Not sure about the grass carp around my place, I'll ask around.
There is a fb group called KANGAROO CARP- fly only.
I know it is tasty fish.
Had it for cristmas for 20years ha ha ha

I think common carp would be fine Paul... they were stocked by monasteries for food, like many carp though they need holding in clean flowing water for a couple of days before you ‘knock’ them on the head... helps freshen up the flesh and supposedly removes a slight muddy taste..

Went for a carp and got this guy.
Nice Tilapia.
Changed the spot, found a crusing carp sipping something from the surface.
I positoned my self- first cast- perfect cast, he sucked it stright away, cazzo the reel start screeming and 10 secends after gone- cazzo again, i tied shity knot on my fly.......
Then nothing
Lesson learn- better knots and check them all the time.
But the bite made my day- it was awesome.
Cheers
