Hashtags are very annoying. I met one guy who makes his living (and a very good one) off Instagram photos. He uses hashtags but instead of posting with the first post he uses the second and third posts to post hashtags which is an excellent idea I think. He gets some serious sponsorship too. GoPro etc.

Actually I can see now that he has changed the way he works slightly and uses minimum hash tags in the first post - the most relevant. The second post (and sometimes third) is full of other hashtags. That way the first post isn't a hashtag advert, but the entire post has them. As soon as he gets a few replies the other hash tags aren't displayed because you see some of the comments.


Of course he has 64k followers

It was very interesting to meet a guy who makes a significant income through instagram. It's a lot of work, but a great personality and he loves what he does. The first thing he did when he showed me his account on my phone was to add me as a liker

At the time his work for go pro was to promote photos and not videos using the camera. He was also quite sure that instagram liked the use of the instagram filters and gave the images higher rankings if you use their filters, so he would always use a couple to enhance the photo slightly.

He gets paid to go on holiday!
