Hi all,

Has anyone used this line? What did you think? True to weight with a 60' head :D

Are these a fairly recent addition to Cortland range or have they been around a while?

It does look good, Tomo. Bart, what's it like on turnover etc? What did you think of it?

That’s good! About four years ago they sent me a bunch of lines but they were all overweight. They were not particularly slick either, which here at least presented a major problem!! It’s crazy that we actually get excited and suspicious nowadays when a line claims to be true to weight :D

It would be good to put one in a shootout.

Cheers, Paul

@Nick.
I don’t really like this line for distance casting. I did not fish it.
As you probably already have read it has a shorter head than the MED and does not have the compound taper.
I am not sure about what a compound tapers adds for me, but the shorter head shortens my distance.
There is however one main thing I feel really shortens my distance and that is the fact it has a thicker running line than other distance lines.
All in all I can cast a MED about 10ft further. If you ask me this is a huge difference.

Hi Bart,

How do you get on with the Rio Tournament Gold - have you tried it?

@James.
Yes, I have one of those too :D .
I never ran real tests, but the Rio Gold Tournament works good for me. I can switch between a MED and Rio without noticing a difference in distance.
If I remember well, the Rio has an even thinner running line. Combined with the longer head I am confident that, with practice, I can throw it further than a MED.

Have you guys measured some Rio gold tournaments?
I have three, and they are quite different, and besides having a lighter head than the MED, I throw the MED further on average.
I know that Bernt Johansson used the Rio when he threw over 50, so there's that...
