Jungle company

Post by Paul Arden »

I was chopping garlic this evening for my world-famous creamy potatoes dish, when I noticed a snake in the back of the boat. Gave me quite a surprise.

Terrible pictures - sorry! I was trying to encourage it to leave at the time. (Bloody quick over the water when it finally did take off!).

Edit - you’ll need to turn your head to the side. I’m not sure why but my phone has uploaded them sideways.

PS now when people ask me why the transom is so high I can say it’s to keep out the snakes.

Hi Matt,

No I have asked. Unfortunately the photos aren’t very clear. There are only a few snakes that I do recognise here - King Cobra and Python and it’s neither of those.

I’m not worried about snakes but I do follow a simple rule: don’t fuck with them! In fact I apply this rule to just about everything apart from fish and it’s stood me well.

I have thought about going on a course to learn about Snakes.

Cheers, Paul

I would certainly agree that not fucking about with a king cobra or python is definitely a wise course of action :D

Elephants, scorpions, tigers, angry women all get the same treatment.

Interesting 😎. And a good rule of thumb. Like you If there are cobras in Malaysia, who knows what other poisonous species of snakes are around. I seem to remember something about big spiders in the Giant Condom as well?

Yes I am sometimes visited by spiders who seem to like my company. I break my rule with spiders and evict them!

In fact I would evict snakes too but I’ve never had to. I shooed the last one away of course!
