Tailing loops page
Wow. I've just watched this. Technically I think this page should be right at - or very near - the very end. Anyway I shall be making it live this weekend.
FWIW it *was* shot at the very end, after the initial makings. You can tell because summer has turned to Autumn Consequently I let go a little bit
Apologies in advance for those who are expecting something less technical. Less technical is coming with presentation casts
Cheers, Paul

Flycasting, so simple that instructors need to make it complicated since 1685
Got a Q++ at casting school, wearing shorts

Cool, it's the one part I haven't bought
May I disagree with stuff, or would you rather leave that behind here
And the first 20 seconds is the best explanation I've heard so far!
Cheers

Well then you asked for it
Less than 180 degrees doesnt cause a tail.
Too much force at the wrong place does.
Finishing the haul too early, thats not what causes the tail in your clip, and it rarely happens, hitting the haul with too much force at the wrong time does cause a tail,, and is much more common than finishing the haul too early.
Have to watch again for more
Cheers

Yep I don't think less than 180 is a tail either. For me that's a Dangling End. However it depends on your definitions. And we don't have one of Tailing Loop.
And yes I agree. I haven't watched the clip too closely but it's rare that tailing loop demonstrations match their cause. And are usually multiple causes. But it looks good
I do see tails caused by the haul when first learning and I as wrote I've seen it once with an experienced caster (in 20 years!).
Cheers, Paul

Hey Man
Better reshoot then
And I did say I see tails from hauling, just not from finishing the haul early
Definition of a tailing loop, I thought there where several of them, all talking about concave paths and amounts of crossings and stuff....
I like your first 20 seconds, and that definition.
A tailing loop is a transverse wave put in the flyleg by the caster.
Cheers

Really interesting Paul...
i’d Never thought of, or realised that the curve casts at the end of the video could be classed as tailing loops... makes my head hurt slightly even thinking of it, I’ve been unknowingly practicing tailing loops
