Hi
Few days ago I did a video for the Aussie fly forum, about wind into your casting arm and back cast delivery/presentation. Not really teaching much, but it explains a bit.
You can see here what James ment to be a bot lazy with the haul, the haul is ok, but its not sharp and close to what I do with different casting.
To show my point I went for a serious setup. Rio Leviathan 350grains, and real 2/0 Clouser with a hook.
That is not a set up you want to fals cast back and forward for preaty loops :pirate:
Pick up a,hook from the grass makes the loop litlle shaky.
...anyway fly traveling over the tip of the rod with the loops starting opend followed by morphing to a tight one is my way to go.
cheers
mike

It wouldn't be safe for Lasse to cast the 12WT without first tying his feet to the ground.

Ok, on a bit more serious note....

My 12 weights don't see much fishing from my hands, all fish caught on them have been by friends who has borrowed them for trips :D So I can't tell you what line weight I would put on them, but the times I have practiced with them it's been lines in the 12-13 weight range. Mostly it's the T38 head, which clocks in just below a 12 weight btw.

From what I have seen, most flies used when people use a rod that says 12 on them, have got very little to do with the fly size and rather the size of the fish they intend to catch, so I'm not sure there would be a reason to use heavier lines, but I'm out of my field here :)

The flies i use on the rod Paul would write 8 on, that I use a bit of 11 weight line to throw easier, are all quite big, I'll post a pic in a sec.

Cheers
Lasse

Wow, maybe you've gained what I've lost. That would explain a lot. :)

Nice video Mike. I would mention tucking the rod butt into the forearm on the backcast delivery and straighten the hauling arm so that the hands are as far as possible apart at the end (finishing like the wings of an aeroplane). The pickup cast can be into the air of course and not placed down. I had a bit of a look on the videos that I have done and I haven't been very clear on this either. Probably worthwhile me redoing it and now that I have hair I think that would really freak a few people out.

Cheers, Paul
