Re: Loose grip no squeeze stop?
I’ll try to make a video tomorrow afternoon when back from fishing Graeme. I also need to shoot my PUALD entry but I might get Ashly to do that.

Thank you i'm not sure if i read it somewhere, or just made it up. It's hard to remember everythingWhat an excellent analogy.
All the best

I must say, the amount of detail involved in fly casting is amazing. I’ve never seen a discussion about using spinning gear or baitcasting rods and reels anywhere near this level. Back to the discussion... I don’t recall having seen or read anything about the Joan Wulff “sponge grip”. Is this anything like the screen door handle analogy of gripping into the forward cast stop? I rather like that one.

Yep or another analogy that Carlos used is to grip the rod like it was a delicate little bird and then break its neck with your thumb. I was shocked too!

Have a look at the surfcasting people
Joan's sponge is squeezing water from a sponge at the stop, both back and forward.
Cheers

The Sexyloops version is a sponge cut in the shape of a song bird...Lasse Karlsson wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 8:49 pmJearley wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:50 pm I must say, the amount of detail involved in fly casting is amazing. ... not the double-handed version.
