I have an old, first-generation 6/7/8 Windcutter line that I've hardly used. I recently bought a 14' spey rod to use with the line. I'm wondering: can I use sinking polyleaders with the line? Should I even use a floating polyleader? Also, can I cast streamers and/or weighted flies with the line?
Finally, I often heard that I should cut some of the tip off the line to help the flies turn over. Is this true?
Thanks so much,
Randy

Old windcutter line questions
Hi Randy,
Sorry I got your PM but I replied via Email and it bounced! I haven't used the two handed version but you might need to cut it back for heavy flies/poly leaders. I would suggest trying it as is and see what happens before applying the scissors. Hopefully someone will know
Cheers Paul

Old windcutter line questions
I've never really fished the Windcutter speylines for DH rods, but I would suppose that it's not good with tips and polyleaders.
The long front taper really isn't good for casting tips, even if taper is one one component - the thickness of the tip is also important, but I stand by my guess :-).
