Spoon for the looser!
Hey guys+gals,
After a dose of Peters Palinka is usually when the really good ideas start cropping up..
I was up at the Mill with Lee, Peter and Paul last weekend where the palinka was flowing. Peter had bought over some very nice looking wood from Pauls place in hungary. The story goes that these “orange” trees were planted on a new boundary line by the Duke of Latohegy after loosing a chunk of land in a bet. The Duke was an infamous womaniser, gambler and quite a lad, so I’m sure he would be resting easy to know Paul has taken his throne!
Some of the trees have been cut down to use for firewood so Paul asked me to see if I could turn reel seats out of it. Out onto the casting field he comes with two big branches under his arm and hands them two me.
First thing that stokes me is the weight, unbelievably heavy! The next is how hard the stuff is! Peter informs me that its ok when its wet but after its been stacked in the wood shed for a year or two not even a chainsaw cuts it!
So, Paull says “can you carve a spoon out of it?” “I want to have a wooden spoon to give to the looser of the spanish meet!”
As the words leave my mouth I want them back….
So today I had to deliver..

If we have a quiet month on the rods we could move into kitchen utensils.

Fantastic.
I might just turn up so that I can win something.
But that is not just something.

I can give you some in Spain and again in Deutschland but the bulk will have to arrive when either I or Peter drive to the UK again. I have quite a bit of dried stuff, more drying still and a shit-load growing!
Looking forward to a longbow Shootout We'll have to invite Jon Allen for that - first guy in the UK to shoot a totally clean set of bulls eyes in competition. Sixty I believe!!
