Hi everyone,
Let's assume you are having a total beginner for a daily lesson. How far would you expect him/her to cast at the end of the lesson?
Is there a typical limit for most students and if so, what are the causes?
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Regards
Bernd

The first cast is always the best cast.

Totally depends. Could be 90ft or more. Might be 70ft or less. Often they learn the double haul nowadays but that’s not a given.

I aim to at least teach them the DH on the first lesson because they can't really use fly gear here without it. I'd expect 50 to 70' from most of my students in the first 2 hour lesson. (There will be outliers at each extremity.)

Graeme
