Second one certainly is. Not sure about the first, my hands are covered in plaster

The second one is a great book. Jason has a nice, progressive method of laying out the aspects of casting, with each lesson leading logically into subsequent aspects of his ideas on casting instruction. It’s a modular approach to casting.

Jason does briefly refer to the 170 cast on pages 204 and 205 but sends people here to find out more.

I haven’t seen the first one.

I just checked the foreword. It says “Don’t, whatever you do, talk to strange men about the bend in your rod, or give them your phone number”.

Try emailing Jason direct through his site. I’m offline next days but I’ll send him a message. Definitely something to buy in the US.
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

Your friendly neighbourhood flyslinger

Flycasting, so simple that instructors need to make it complicated since 1685

Got a Q++ at casting school, wearing shorts ;)

Is it ok to talk to women about the bend in your rod?

I have now gone through both books. I find that there is a lot of the same material in both books (in fact most of it is the same). The soft cover is available on eBay for under $10 — that’s the one to get IMHO.

I got a kick out of the two highlighted statements in the picture below — apparently he can’t make up his mind about how much the bend, spring effect, loading, effects power/line speed either.

The end of the last sentence is: “(re)contribution has reached maximum.”

He’s not confused. He just didn’t write that second paragraph as clearly as he should have to avoid misinterpretation.
