Hi Morsie,
Yes, same tool. I position it as it as in the picture, but around the upper hand arm, ellbow position. That way one can well move the forearm, but not straighten the ellbow (very limited upper arm movement). The ellbow has just little room for movement.
So I can use it for both issues at the same time or one at a time. It's an easy to built tool, very valuable for throwing short heads in the Scandi style as I teach it mostly.
Regards
Bernd

Cool thanks Bernd, I'll have a play with making one up. I know there was a gold swing divice that could also be adapted, I saw it once and thought "hmmm I like the look of that", but have not been able to find it again.

How do you see the use of your bottom hand, James?
Looks to me, you mainly pull the upper hand as well.
Cheers

Isn't using both hands classed as cheating? :D :D :p

:D Is it? I would decide to focus on the bottom hand then. 😇🙃

Hi Morsie,
I have started a thread about teaching devices in the teaching section of the SL forum. Maybe someone will know about that device.

In teaching sh casting I have seen a high percentage of instructors teaching to watch tip path. Also many sh fly casting books adress tip path.

I yet never saw this being adressed similiuar in dh casting.

How about your experience in this?
Thanks,
Bernd
I start every two hand lesson with false casting, Both hands…

It gives me an insight into what line they have brought with them and the difficulties I’m likely to face before putting them in the water.
