Anybody like to apply the FFI new definitions of loops to this cast? And tell me where it fits?
Here.

Loop
• The shape a fly line assumes as it overtakes the rod tip during a Fly Cast.
This is better than the SL one I think 🙂
Lets have the SL one here too then
Loop: A moving length of line delivered past the rod tip, formed when the rod tip curves the line under or over itself./quote]
And yeah, care to use the different definitions of FFI loop shapes on the picture?

Fly leg isn't straight, is it?

I don’t worry too much about the definitions when they mean more or less the same thing. When they mean something different, such as Drag, that’s when problems arise.

I would suggest that the examiners get externally and independently assessed. This was a good idea in the AAPGAI assessments. Unfortunately the examiners there failed to understand how exams should actually be given, ie no prompting or leading questions, which are considered to be coaching the candidate during the exam. If that was understood it would certainly speed up many exams. Ask a question, get the wrong answer, write it down and move on. Job done. No need to get the right answer out of them by beating around the bush. That’s coaching.

Cheers, Paul
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

1. I like Graeme’s analysis.

2. No, it’s not. 🙂

Cool, everything and all at the same time :D

So it should fail a MCI exam, good to know the clips that are guidelines for people going up for the test are of fails then :D
No wonder getting a clip of someone passing a task is so difficult :p

Not necessarily Lasse, there’s a subtle difference in meaning between absolutely straight and relatively straight.

If you feel very strongly about it, as you clearly do, then you could respond to the request for comments. Obviously you’ve been ignored a lot longer than I have and, if my experience is anything to go by, commenting may or may not get you what you want. One thing you can be sure is that bellyaching about it all on here isn’t going to be as effective as going direct to source.

Hi Mark

Na, lost the strong feel for it several months ago, just holding a promise I made, something not many do these days.

Bellyaching :D :D :D
