Nylon mono rig

#1

Post by Lou Bruno »

I'm in the process of re-rigging saltwater reels, changing my backing and line. Got to thinking how a nylon mono rig would work in the salt. Admittedly, my experience with a nylon mono rig is very limited.
Anyone try this while fly fishing in saltwater?

Howdy,

—- For some reason I have a design for a salmon/steelhead line and it has two tapered leaders and a furled tip which brings into question which rod to use when the front of the fly line is 25’ in length?

Thx

I’m not sure Rusty. Sorry missed this Lou. I don’t see a problem. I’ve used mono as backing for many freshwater reels. I think braid have better breaking strain to diameter, so if you need a lot of backing it’s better in this regards.

Cheers, Paul
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.
