Line selection for beach fishing

Hi Guys
Im planning night fishing session of the beach. We will try for a jewfish and Im not sure if they are there, where they will be hiding.
My choice is
T14 shooting head
Outband short Intermedium shooting head
Full line with intermedium head
Full floater.

We talking all in 10wt. now the forecast looks good with not to strong wind and the swell ahould be ok- currents might be strong though.
What line would be your first choice?
cheers

Ha ha
Looks like I might look for the answer on Monday night.
Im fine, working in this fucking shithole is killing me, but suprisingly my family is happy- that keeps me going.
Fishing is shit, now my wif found a job so whenever Im off she works and Im looking after my daughter.
Im casting a lot though, I post on to ausie forums if somebody want to join me, learn something- nobody bothers so I do my staff on my own.
Next wek I want make a video about different body movements in distance casting, funny results today.
I will post it later and might start new discussion.

Love to play with UV resin and tying surfcandies- really fun.
P.s
See you in November???
cheers

Don't know the first thing about Jewfish, do you need to get your fly on the bottom? Does the beach shelf off quickly? T14 is a serious depth charger and casting that horrid head and handling all the tangly running line wouldn't be what I want at night time unless you absolutely need that depth or to beat the current.

Wouldn't bother with a floater either, the surf will just pull the line all over the place.

Hi Mike
A pity you are up in Brisbane and not on the GC, also that you work weekends. There were two casting sessions down here over the weekend, both with reasonable attendance, and I managed seven hours of instruction.
Can you not manage next weekend?

Mike you will be wasting your time fishing for jew fish from the beach.
Put your energy some where else like bream, tailer, whiting, from the beach.

Hi
Yep you are right Vince.
Few hours last hight- nothing for both of us.
Very important lesson learned though- LINE MANAGMENT
We get to the beach, wind and waves were much bigger then the forecast said. I went straight to 30' T14 SH with 50lb slick shooter running line.
The current was so strong that after the cast we were actually stripping pararel to the beach.Maybe if I have full line of T14 would be better.
Ive learn to take time before every cast.
During the night with 2/0 fly thinking you are ready for the next cast is not good idea.
STRIPPONG BASKET IS A MUST.
Aftet stripping line to the basket, make sure its all there, one little coil of line hanging slightly over the basket edge means that with the next wave all your line is already allover the place.
With strong wind to your casting side, best option is back cast delivery, and it is very dangerous to turn your back to the surf in the night on incoming tide.
Summary
strip your line to the basket and make sure its all there
start preferebly with your fly in your hand, so you can be sure you are not casting your leg
wait for big wave to break, turn around and cast if you are backcast delivering
with strong currents and big wave wait fir the wave and cast behind it
for sinking SH use sinking runing lines.
that was my night yesterday
cheers
