Interesting story John.
I used to fish in the Keys a lot at the end of the nineties. I fished with many different guides and one of them was particularly rude to me and was apparently, although I did not know this at the time, rude to most of his customers.
At the time I was a complete novice and he seemed to go out of his way to make my day miserable.
Needless to say I only fished with him once. After many more trips I would keep meeting him and when I had become a more accomplished angler he asked me if I wanted to fish with him. I declined, almost politely.
His name was not Tom but the first initial is the same. I wonder if it is the same guy.
