Well I've read that, and it would appear to me to just use a skagit outfit, that's basicly what was used in the thread there.... Ixnay room, micro skagit ;)

Normally it's an 8wt line, heavy nymph (heaviest I've seen - it's basically a weight - big lead eyes that you would put on a large clouser, lead and copper wire body). Usually there is a second fly - a glo bug. And an indicator near the flyline (Ferris indicator - Herb and Rudi and friends from way back). You obviously don't want a long front taper. A longish head I think is an advantage for mending. The presentation is collapsed. There is an article on the cast on Loops. I'll dig it out this evening :)

Cheers, Paul
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

I don't have one from Herb on the collapsed cast - well actually I did, but I didn't publish it. Anyway it's placing the nymphs close to the flyline end so that the leader is collapsed.

Hi Paul

Apparently it can be cast over 30 meters with a OB short and no backcast, so long heads are out ;)

Hopefully a clip of that will surface, I'm very interested to say the least, that's a fecking long way without the heavy bomb and nymphs and indicator.

Cheers

I doubt very much that is measured. Lee, Bernd and I cast 5 and 6 weights off a jump roll alongside a dam wall. 80ft is long.
