Wow, hell of a fish. At OP, my first instinct after change of retrieve would be to fish a tying with a more diminished presence with the addition of a small hotspot/trigger. In fresh water I tend to get back on the bank , roll one and put up a tiny tungsten weighted red frances, I often fish this square or even slightly upstream.
