Might not be your delivery stroke.
Describe your flyline, leader, and fly.
Also, is your back cast close to vertical?
Have you watched how the fly behaves at the end of the back cast?
Sometimes, its not the stroke, but how everything sets up right before you start it.

Points well taken Gary. It seems, in order to form a dangle, there must be an upward force on the line. I understand the origin could be either the forward stroke, back cast or change of direction. We are experiencing extremely cold weather right now which I am worried will kill the fish. Too cold and windy to cast Will get back to you.
