No worries John, good luck with the lesson. I have my small stream bamboo guy next week and an upstream change of direction demonstration and lesson to work out for a chalkstream class. There will be more patterns than an Isle of Arran knitwear factory :)

Regards

Hi Vince,

It was fun casting today. I always learn something every time I cast, or watch somebody else cast. We played with short line accuracy casts with a 5 weight MED in gusty winds. We had 4 different 5 and 6 weight rods, one being a bendy old 8 ft 6 inch 5 weight Fenwick. Great on a clam day but risky in gusty wind. It was interesting to see the counter flex impact on the loop shape when the power was increased to cope with the wind gusts. We then did some distance stuff, but I lost interest in that very quickly when it got too hot. Any temperature north of 22 C is too hot for me. I envy you having chalk stream fishing. I like trout stream fishing above all and nothing beats chalk stream sight fishing in my opinion. I'm a history buff so that is another attraction for me about the southern England and Normandy chalk streams.

All good,

John

Hi John

22C is a temperature that I have heard of :D Apparently, we have 104 words for rain and I think we have used all of them this winter. The change of direction stuff is making me think a bit, the standard instructor lexicon such as the star cast, tension cast, Barnegat Bay, Galway etc is not what I do in the river and they set the dogs on anyone fishing downstream. I’ll take a rod out later and run through my spiel.

If you drop me a message with your email address, I’ll send you a Dropbox link so that you can download an ebook about the Avon. I think you will enjoy it.

Regards

Vince

Thanks Vince, very much enjoy reading about trout and grayling rivers in UK. You've copped a lot of rain in the last year but the chalk streams will benefit and you should look forward to some good fishing this summer and autumn. We're the opposite unfortunately.

My thanks and appreciation,

John

I wonder why they have never seen their back cast? :ninja:
